For over 20 years, Nico Rensch and his team have been creating exceptional residences for affluent clients across the globe. In 2018, they decided to focus their research exclusively on the design and development of an architecturally exceptional home, with an emphasis on energy performance and respect for the environment. Thus was born the "Wunderhaus".

Modern, uncluttered architecture

The architecture of Wunderhaus stands out for its innovative character. It doesn't simply reproduce a classic form already in widespread use, but reinvents and optimizes it to suit today's context. The result is an open, double-height space comprising a living room, dining room, kitchen and family room. The 7.5-meter-long double-sloped roof is intersected by a triple-glazed façade, creating a luminous loft effect that enhances the room's volume.

Wunderhaus ranges from a single-storey 87 m2 house with 2 bedrooms to a double-storey 300 m2 house with 6 bedrooms. Houses can be detached, semi-detached, connected or terraced.

An energy-positive house

Wunderhaus is without doubt the most efficient single-family home on the market. Its Passivhaus standard guarantees unrivalled thermal performance, so efficient that energy can be fed back into the grid.

Wunderhaus is a positive-energy house equipped with an MVHR mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system that supplies continuously filtered fresh air, recovering 93% of the heat supplied by a heat pump for heating, air conditioning and hot water.

It features a revolutionary 12 KW photovoltaic collector system, virtually invisible and embedded in the steel roofing elements.

Energy is stored in a 10 kWh battery.

This battery powers a charging station for electric vehicles.

Sustainable materials

The house uses materials and construction approved by the BBA (British Board of Agrément). The building's triple-glazed windows ensure maximum airtightness with a thermal break and high levels of thermal and acoustic insulation.

The building's structure is made exclusively of wood from sustainably-managed plantations, helping to store carbon and thus improve the building's carbon footprint.

The building envelope is made from Fiberdeck's WEO® 35 wood composite cladding, a blend of FSC-certified wood fibers and recycled plastics. The product itself is 100% recyclable at the end of its life.

Fiberdeck® WEO cladding requires very little maintenance. Highly durable, it is guaranteed fade-free for 25 years and meets all European construction standards. It is certified QB15 (CSTB).
